The Rise and Role of the Chief Integrity Officer: Leadership Imperatives in an ESG-Driven World
In recent years there has been a significant global focus on the environmental and social aspects of ESG – Environment, Social, and Governance – applying a more complex and intersectional view of the impact of companies’ negative externalities on society. This study explores how organizations are rethinking their structures, culture, and engagement to support current changes about their role in society. Specifically, it examines the emergence of the chief integrity officer in companies and other organizations, noting trends such as the increased use of digital technology, resulting in ethical issues such as privacy and authenticity. Furthermore, this study offers instances of innovative policies that address the generational shift in norms and values, where younger employers have radically different expectations of their workers and careers.
